Respect.
All communication during the mediation process will be respectful. You will have the opportunity to discuss the mediation or what is occurring with advisers or support persons, if required.
Courtesy.
You will be sure of the guidelines of the mediation, including being given the opportunity to speak and be heard. You will have access to comfort breaks when requested. You can expect your mediator to be a skilled dispute resolution practitioner with high empathy, listening skills and impartiality.
Leadership.
A mediators role is not to make decisions for you, but to guide you to making decisions for yourselves. This gives you ownership of the settlement. However, our role is to guide the process of the mediation, ensuring issues are appropriately defined and resolved.
