Nathan Laing - Mediator & barrister
I consider it a privilege to be requested to assist parties resolve their disputes. Often these disputes involve heightened emotions and feelings, and may have continued for many months, if not, years.
A frustration which I often hear, is that lawyers are not great listeners, or they lack general life experience to draw upon when assisting parties. Indeed, the model of “high school > university > practice” does little in developing leadership, communication, empathy and understanding.
This is why I believe I am uniquely positioned to assist you.
There may be a power imbalance between the participants, a difference in education and background, or simply a lack of understanding as to why particular issues are sensitive to one or both participants.
You should therefore have no question that the person you have asked to assist you resolve the dispute presents with appropriate qualifications, life experience and attributes.
